Christmas Cards and Prayer

Back at Christmas time, I had made a statement on Facebook that said, "If I get a card from you for Christmas, I will put all the cards together and grab one out each week and pray for that person or family. Well, let me tell you what a privilege it has been to pray for people and really, what God has taught me about himself during this time.

One week I prayed for my friends, Jon and JoAnn, later that month, I found out that Jo had received very concerning news of a cancer scare. I prayed for them, not knowing what they were facing and when I realized they had gotten the news the week I was praying for them, it really touched me that God had me putting them before his throne the week they needed it the most.

Another time, I had prayed for a family, Mary and Steve. I found out later that I was praying God's blessing upon them the week of Steve's birthday. Not a huge thing, but God's timing nonetheless.

Last week I pulled out the picture of their grandchildren, because Mary wanted to be sure they were prayed for too. It happens to be the week before the wedding of their son which has been a very unsettled time for them. God's got this, he knows what we need when we need it.

I prayed for others, I cannot recall all of the details of the precise timing, but I pulled a card every week, if you sent me one, you have been or will be prayed for. I have two left. I can't wait to see if the one will have a HUGE blessing of a child they have been waiting for when I pull their card. We will see if that is God's perfect plan...his plan is perfect, we don't always know it it matches ours. I am praying in faith that this couple will be blessed with a child.

Today, I prayed for a family that I cared for their daughter as a preemie. Today, I see on Facebook that the sister of my patient is going to surgery. What timing!! What a great God we serve and one who loves us beyond what we can imagine.

So, just wanted to remind you, if you sent me a card, you have been or will be prayed for. God is faithful.
